What Are PMMA Extrusion Lenses?

PMMA (Polymethyl Methacrylate), commonly known as acrylic, is one of the most widely used optical materials in the lighting industry. PMMA extrusion lenses are manufactured by heating PMMA pellets to a molten state and forcing them through a precision-engineered die to create lenses with specific optical profiles.

The advantages of PMMA extrusion lenses over injection-molded alternatives include:

  • Continuous production capability — lower cost for long runs
  • Light transmittance up to 92%, higher than PC alternatives
  • Excellent UV resistance with proper additives
  • Low birefringence for precise optical control
  • Easy to cut and process on-site

Our PMMA lens products are widely used in LED street lights, downlights, panel lights, and linear lighting fixtures.
